    Infection is a leading cause of childhood deaths, but many of these deaths are avoidable with timely treatment. The national Before Arrival at Hospital Project (BeArH), funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), explored what happens to children under five years of age with serious infections before they are admitted to hospital.
