Summary
Racial and ethnic disparities in health are substantial and persistent in the USA. They occur from the earliest years of life, are perpetuated by societal structures and systems, and profoundly affect children’s health throughout their lives. This series of articles in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health summarises evidence on racial and ethnic inequities in the quality of paediatric care, outlines priorities for future research to better understand and address these inequities and discusses policy solutions to advance child health equity in the USA.
