About me
I have worked as a screening programme manager and have been appalled when raising patient safety concerns how these were not deemed serious by managers. It is as though no-one can raise issues about practice without that person being viewed as having personal relationship issues with that member of staff. I feel there is a lack of professional responsibility, accountability and transparency among the nursing profession as this played into a review with my late mother’s care in 2005. Having worked for nearly 40 years in the hospital environment I believe incidents should be properly investigated without real lessons learned. Thematic reviews should take place as a matter of regularity to measure if lessons are being learnt.

It would be interesting to learn how many of these maternity emergencies were turned away from maternity hospitals and then had to rely on the ambulance service. My daughter was turned away from Fgh @ UHMBT whilst in labour whilst a sneering midwife informed her, you still won’t have had it by the time I finish my shift at 8:00 pm, within half an hour of being back from hospital her baby was delivered on the bathroom floor with the help of 999 staff and then blue lighted back to hospital.- Posted
