Summary
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recently changed its recommendations for all women to get screened for breast cancer every other year starting at age 40 instead of 50.
Wanda Nicholson, USPSTF Vice Chair and professor at George Washington University said the updated recommendations “will save more lives among all women.” However, time and time again, the evidence shows that screening healthy women using mammograms in fact, does not save lives. Dr Maryanne Demasi discusses the evidence.
