WHO: Understanding and managing Long COVID requires a patient-led approach (25 February 2021)

Summary

In this statement, published by the World Health Organization, Professor Martin McKee, European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies highlights the importance of working with patients to understand Long COVID.

"We need to work with patients and their families to develop new care pathways, including rehabilitation and online support tools. We need to look at employment rights, sick pay policies and access to benefit packages for those affected. And we need much more research, again with patients fully involved in deciding what questions to ask and how to answer them."
