Summary

There are an estimated 3.8 million people with a wound being managed by the NHS, which is equivalent to 7% of the UK population. The impact of wounds on patients is significant and can lead to deteriorating mental health as well as further physical health issues. In addition, the cost to the NHS of providing wound care services is around £8.3 billion annually.
