Partha Kar is the National Specialty Advisor, Diabetes for NHS England. He is also a Consultant Endocrinologist at Portsmouth NHS Hospital Trust, public speaker and writer.
While in his national post advising on diabetes care:
- continuous glucose monitoring has been made available to everyone with type 1 diabetes
- there has been a near universal uptake of continuous glucose monitoring for pregnant women with type 1 diabetes, improving outcomes for both mother and baby
- uptake rates of continuous glucose monitoring among Black children has doubled, and disparities in area have started to reduce.
