Summary
Most research to understand post acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), or Long Covid, has focused on adults. Research is needed to characterise paediatric PASC to enable studies of underlying mechanisms that will guide future treatment. This JAMA study developed research indices for characterising paediatric PASC. The authors found that symptom patterns were similar but distinguishable between school-age children and adolescents, highlighting the importance of characterizing PASC separately in different age groups.
