The future of health and care lies at the intersection of prevention and precision. It’s a paradigm shift that requires vision, leadership, change management and the critical need to be radical.
At Radical Health Festival Helsinki 2024, we’re not just thinking about the future of healthcare; we’re redefining it. Imagine a world where health is a lifelong journey, where risks are identified before they turn into crises, and care is personalised for every citizen. Is this just a pipe dream? No, it’s the radical shift we need now more than ever!
This year, we deep dive into the intersection of prevention and precision. It’s a bold move and a paradigm shift requiring bold leadership. But it´s the only way forward.
The 2024 programme explores the three pillars and key questions that will enable this deployment at scale:
PEOPLE: Can we shift our focus from technology to people and place humans at the heart of digital transformation efforts? INNOVATION: Can we re-think innovation frameworks to accelerate the adoption and integration of cutting-edge technologies in clinical pathways? DATA: How do we turn data into insights for prevention, precision, and equity? We may not have all the answers. But Radical Health Festival Helsinki is where radical ideas take flight.

The conference themes recognise firstly that simulation should show delivery of improvement in service-user experiences and outcomes; secondly that recent significant investment in resources should be met by faculty skilled and motivated to make optimal use of these resources to deliver; and now that safety is a key indicator and desirable outcome.
Sole keynote speaker, Dr Dawn Benson, is a sociologist who specialises in safety investigation within health, social care, and education currently works as a National Investigator at the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB).
The programme replaces passive listening with conferring, workshops, and networking, establishing collaborations across our geographically wide South-East community, we expect to see innovative work in safety, enhanced approaches to meeting training resource demands, and simply better simulation, as outcomes.
Simulation4Safety challenges you to not only provide content celebrating your work but also fruitfully engage with others, including those you may regard as stakeholders, colleagues, overseers, and enablers. The overarching aim is quality, so whilst we expect to see safety woven into the tapestry of the conference, please do submit work without a safety focus that may form an illuminating vignette in the complete picture.

A crisis is deepening in NHS psychiatric care - but how can we turn the tide and stop a total collapse?
Join The Independent’s health correspondent Rebecca Thomas and a panel of experts as they dive into the heart of the issues plaguing the NHS' mental health services.
This exclusive event comes after joint Independent/Sky News investigation Patient 11 uncovered 20,000 sexual abuse, harassment and assault complaints involving both patients and staff in more than 30 NHS mental health trusts in England since 2019.
Sparked by the testimony of former patient Alexis Quinn, who joins our panel, the investigation has prompted accusations by healthcare professionals that NHS psychiatric care in England is in a state of "collapse," due to "unsafe" mixed gender care spaces, inadequate safeguarding protections and bed shortages.
