One of the key recommendations from the Bill is to bring the NHS and local government together to plan health and care services focused on patients' needs, and innovating solutions quickly, which would normally take years to fix.
It will establish integrated care boards and end clinical commissioning groups. Although this will hopefully remove unnecessary bureaucracy allowing health and care staff to focus on patients and providing care rather than paperwork, will this also lead to significant centralised and ministerial involvement in everyday matters that affect the NHS?
How will this affect patient safety? What will be the impact on patient safety managers and staff? What are the implications? Love to hear your thoughts on this.
What will be the impact of the new Health and Care Bill?
