Approaches to recruiting Patient Safety Partners: presentation from NHSE/I

Summary

The Framework for Involving Patients in Patient Safety (PSP) identifies the requirement for individual organisations to develop local approaches to recruiting, working with and supporting Patient Safety Partners based on the principles provided.

As integrated care systems (ICSs) are established opportunities for recruiting PSPs at ICS level to work across the system are being locally considered at system level.

A focus group was held in May 2022 with Patient Safety Specialists from both provider and commissioning organisations to discuss the benefits and risks of recruiting PSPs at both provider and system level. This presentation is intended to support organisations when determining the most appropriate approach for their needs.
