European Institute for Safe Communication: SACCIA resources

Summary

SACCIA is not a set of communication rules to memorise. It is a framework for understanding, developing and applying the communicative competencies that enable people to build shared understanding together.

Content

On the SACCIA webpage you can:

  • Explore the five competencies Safe communication does not depend on any single communication skill. It emerges from the interplay of five communicative competencies that enable people to bring together what they know, establish its accuracy, clarify meaning and uncertainty, account for the context in which communication occurs, and continuously adapt to one another.

  • SACCIA cards A visual introduction to safe communication. Move through the eight cards to see how the SACCIA framework comes together.

  • Turn the framework into practice SACCIA is a communication capability—and capabilities develop through practice. Use real communication challenges to practise applying all five competencies together.

  • Watch the video A concise introduction to why safe communication matters, how SACCIA works, and how its five competencies build shared understanding.
