This course is aimed at those who lead investigations and other learning responses and those in Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) oversight roles. It's free of charge and open to all in healthcare, including those outside of the NHS.
In this course you will learn about:
Complex systems, systems thinking and human factors.
Investigation practices such as interviewing, capturing work-as-done, using a systems framework (SEIPS), synthesising data and writing reports.
Developing effective safety actions and recommendations.
Engaging and involving those affected by patient safety incidents.
This is a self-paced, online course with bitesize modules. On average it takes 20 hours to complete, over a maximum period of six months. The course is CPD and Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) accredited. Learners are awarded 20 CPD points on completion.
Enrolment for the September 2024 cohort is open now, for four weeks only. This means you have from now until 11.59pm on Sunday 29 September to enrol. This ensures that all learners have five to six months to complete the course.
