A healthy population is one of the nation’s most important assets: a vital input into a strong economy that improves people’s wellbeing, their productivity and their ability to participate in society. But how do we measure the health of the nation?
The ONS has launched an ‘experimental’ version of its health index, which was proposed in 2018 by the then Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dame Sally Davies, and it is currently open for public consultation before being finalised in 2021.
