Balancing care: The psychological impact of ensuring patient safety
D325d3c6f07a6dd2ebd78b6a76e4df4bHi Carrie - hope you are well, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother, and that you had to fight so hard to get answers for him and your family - it's always disappointing to hear awful experiences from families and patients in relation to how they have been treated following a patient safety incident as it doesn't encompass what we wish to happen. In terms of "victims" - families are very much the first victim alongside the patient - you live what has happened to your loved one. Second Victim is actually an organisation which aims to drive welfare support for those staff directly involved in an incident - which is where the term has come from.
