A lot of these care homes don't respect the residents. I'm a resident in a care home ATM. One care came into my room the one time and tried laying the law down. I told her to get out of the room. She swore at me. For ages. She didn’t say anything. But after a while. Because time had passed. She tried to start doing it again. I put my buzzer on twice in that 12 hour shift of her’s. She told me to stop putting the buzzer on every five minutes. I managed to keep calm. But I thought to myself, who did she think that she was talking to. Two days later. I spoke to the nurse about her behaviour. If she talks like that to me, she is doing it to others. I told the nurse that if she ever comes into my room again and talks to me like that. I said that I will get out of my bed and give her a backhander. I said that she had no right to speak to me like that. Anyway. The girl has been banned from coming into my room. So, it was better for me to report her rather than let it continue and next time I could be looking at an assault charge or even manslaughter. In terms of my hygiene. I have paid for my own toiletries, clothes and everything else in my room. I don’t have to rely on anyone else’s things. I have to take some responsibility for my wellbeing in the care home, instead of expecting everyone else to do it all for me. No one owes me anything. Did I do the right thing?- Posted
