Augustine Kumah is an early career researcher, a public health practitioner and a healthcare quality improvement professional committed to improving patients’ safety, health outcomes, and community and population health and well-being.

With several years of combined experience in the health space spanning the public, private and non-profit sectors, Augustine has worked in different roles related to nursing, public health, healthcare quality improvement, research, advocacy and capacity building, project management, health systems strengthening and sexual reproductive health and rights.

His research interest seeks to evaluate and analyse health policies and program implementation gaps, understand the diverse community and key population’s unique health challenges, and design community and facility-based innovations to address health disparities and strengthen community and health systems to improve health outcomes of patients, communities and key populations. His interests also focus on improving care quality through evidence-based practice and interventions that minimize adverse events and errors to ensure patient safety and improve the quality of care.

Augustine has contributed to multiple research studies, demonstrating proficiency in designing research protocols, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results. His experience in mixed methods, experimental design, and evaluation helps him identify and demonstrate how interventions, healthcare services, and technology can improve healthcare quality, safety, health outcomes, and well-being. He has actively engaged and led several healthcare quality improvement projects, community- and facility-based research, and public health surveys at district, regional, and national levels. He has published and contributed to knowledge via 50+ research outputs, more than 30 Research articles, and publications, some within Q1 Journals and/or prestigious knowledge outlets (SAGE, Elsevier, BMJ, PubMed, Web of Science, etc.).
