About me
I am a retired (2018) IT Operations Director, who previously worked at Fujitsu UK & Ireland. During my 40 year career I have spent time in many different disciplines, including project management, service delivery management, quality and process improvement, customer satisfaction management, operations management, people management and transition / transformation leadership. I have held director level positions in Fujitsu UK & Ireland, leading business units with revenues up to £20m pa. I have been responsible for a number of major IT implementation projects impacting thousands of employees.
Since retiring, I wanted to contribute my skills and experience to give something back to the NHS, in recognition of the fantastic service they have provided to myself and my family over the years.
I am therefore developing a portfolio of roles, focusing on areas where my skills and experience enable me to make a worthwhile contribution. I have a particular interest in the effective delivery of public services and ensuring those services reach the vulnerable and excluded.
I am absolutely passionate about ensuring that the patient voice and experience is heard sufficiently whenever new services are introduced, or existing services are improved. This is more relevant than ever before as the organisation faces unprecedented service delivery challenges.
The NHS delivers services to an increasingly diverse and multi-cultural patient base. It is absolutely vital that the specific differences and needs of the different sectors is fully taken into account, and I have worked hard within my volunteering roles to ensure that this is done as much as possible.
Current roles include:
Patient & Public Voice Partner for NHSE
National Patient Safety Partner for NHSE
Chair of Public Participation panel for East lancs NHS Hospitals Trust
Chair of Patient Participation group for Blackburn with Darwen Healthlink
