About me
Physician, academic and senior healthcare leader with more than 35 years of experience in patient safety, clinical risk management, human factors and ergonomics, occupational health, healthcare quality and service organisation. Former Director of the Tuscany Region Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety Centre, which became a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre, and former National Coordinator of the Italian Committee for Patient Safety. Internationally recognised for advancing systems-based approaches to safer care and for connecting research, policy, professional education and organisational improvement.

• Director of the Tuscany Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety Centre for 15 years; recognised as a WHO Collaborating
Centre in 2016 and as an Italian National Institute of Health centre of excellence in clinical governance in 2017.
• Co-editor, Textbook of Clinical Risk Management and Patient Safety (Springer, 2021); author of the Patient Safety chapter for the 2026 edition of the Oxford Textbook of Public Health.
