About me
As a medical student I learned about medical error, and since then, couldn't look away.
I’ve been specializing in this for more time that I have been practicing medicine, and I’ve been lucky to be able to use my abilities every step of the way; learning while doing. As a doctor, we learn to “see one, do one, teach one”; and while practicing patient safety and quality of care I tried to learn from best practices, implement them and teach others about the importance of patient safety (not an easy task in Argentina).
After graduating as a doctor and completing 2 years on an A&E residency, I got offered a scholarship to do a masters degree in Clinical Effectiveness oriented to quality of care. I also completed patient safety and quality improvement training with the IHI becoming an Improvement Advisor, and also with Harvard School of Public Health. As a process oriented improver, I also completed a Green Belt course, and this gave me the resources to understand processes, measurements and teamwork. Recently completed the NHS Digital Clinical Management Course.
While working at IECS I has in charge of organizing and chairing different local quality improvement initiatives for Latin America (Goodbye Bacteraemia, and Pneumonias www.clicss.org). While doing so, I also acquired the skills to understand data and drive improvement in different settings.
My medical background allows me to understand clinical issues, and being able to provide improvement advice and support to health boards on policy development.
I'm convinced that working collaboratively is the only way to implement initiatives, determine the resources, expertise and activities required to improve.
Healthcare setting in Argentina is also a complex environment, mostly paper based, with restraints in resources and expertise when talking about quality improvement or patient safety.
I'm a highly motivated person, able to work in different teams and to engage in multiple activities. I think that my medical background is useful to engage clinicians in changes being implemented, but it also gives me a broad view of the healthcare system as a whole.
I’m a fast learner, trustworthy, loyal and goal oriented. I would love to be given the opportunity to lead the development of this project.
