In my patient safety partner role I try hard to bring the perspective of a patient, relative, carer to the table when discussing patient safety issues. Part of the role is to question, challenge, offer constructive observations / suggestions and to collaborate with others with the aim of improving the patient safety experience. I have a background in mental health nursing and non medical prescribing. I have been a patient of cancer services and support a family member in all their health care appointments and have extensive experience of neurodiversity across family and friends. I have previously volunteered as an appropriate adult for people in police custody and a disability charity advisor. For full transparency I receive an involvement payment for my PSP role up to a maximum of 22.5 hrs a month.
