CQC's purpose and their role as a regulator won’t change – but how it works will be different. CQC has set out their ambitions under four themes:

• People and communities.
• Smarter regulation.
• Safety through learning.
• Accelerating improvement.

Running through each theme are two core ambitions:

• Assessing local systems.
• Tackling inequalities in health and care.
