Quality improvement and accountability in the Danish health care system (December 2015)

Summary

Quality improvement and patient safety have been important topics on the agenda in the Danish health care system for >20 years. Over the years, Denmark has developed an array of national quality and patient safety initiatives. 

This paper aims to describe how quality improvement and patient safety initiatives have been organised in the Danish health care system and highlight how accountability has been achieved.
