AHRQ’s new toolkit to improve antibiotic use in acute care hospitals. Based on the experiences of more than 400 hospitals that participated in AHRQ’s Safety Program for Improving Antibiotic Use, the toolkit guides users through its signature 'Four Moments of Antibiotic Decision Making,' a step-by-step approach for doctors to achieve optimal antibiotic prescribing. 

Content

The toolkit includes presentations and tools to support implementation of the Four Moments and improve antibiotic prescribing, encompassing three critical areas:

1. Developing and improving your antibiotic stewardship programme, 
2. Creating a culture of safety around antibiotic prescribing in your hospital, and 
3. Learning and disseminating best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of common infectious disease syndromes.
