Summary
The duty of quality, as part of the Health and Social Care (Quality and Engagement) (Wales) Act 2020, will came into force on 1 April 2023. It is a lever for improving and protecting the health, care and well-being of the current and future population of Wales. It aims to ensure a stronger citizen voice and to improve the accountability of services to deliver a better experience and quality of care. Doing so contributes to a healthy and more prosperous country. The Act is intended to have positive benefits for everyone in Wales, supporting a culture and the conditions needed to drive improvements in health care.
This statutory guidance aims to help NHS bodies in Wales deliver the requirements of the duty of quality.
