Summary
The Patient Safety Commissioner for England is an independent statutory role, established under the Medicines and Medical Devices Act 2021. In 2022, Prof Henrietta Hughes OBE was appointed in the role of the first Patient Safety Commissioner in the world after a recommendation from the Independent Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Review in 2020, First Do No Harm, conducted by Baroness Cumberlege.
