Summary
Most research examining the association between blood pressure and cardiovascular disease (CVD) is does not take sex into account. This research study aimed assess sex-specific associations between blood pressure and CVD mortality.by estimating sex-stratified, multivariable-adjusted incidence rate ratios (IRRs) for CVD mortality.
The authors found that the association between blood pressure and CVD mortality differed by sex, with increased CVD mortality risk present at lower levels of systolic blood pressure among women, compared with men.
