Summary
The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman has taken up the role of the Independent National Whistleblowing Officer (INWO). The aim of the role is to make sure everyone delivering NHS services in Scotland is able to speak out to raise concerns, ultimately contributing to ensuring that the NHS in Scotland is as well run as possible.
The INWO developed a set of National Whistleblowing Standards that set out the high level principles and a detailed procedure for investigating concerns.

To ensure those wanting to raise concerns have access to all the information they need in relation to the Standards, the INWO team operate an advice phone line. You can contact the team on: Freephone: 0800 008 6112
The advice team is available during the following hours:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-1pm
- Tuesday and Thursday 12noon-4pm
