Summary
A growing number of studies have focused on 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) since its outbreak, but few data are available on epidemiological features and transmission patterns of children with COVID-19. This study, published in Pediatrics journal, examined the epidemiological characteristics and transmission patterns of 2143 paediatric patients with COVID-19, using a retrospective analytical approach.
The authors found that children at all ages were susceptible to COVID-19, but no significant gender difference was found. Clinical manifestations of paediatric patients were generally less severe than those of adults’ patients. However, young children, particularly infants, were vulnerable to 2019-nCoV infection.
