Summary

With record-long waits for treatment, it has never been so important for NHS trusts to understand the level of risk to patients on the waiting lists.

But while it’s one thing to assess and categorise the patients and their risks while waiting, it’s quite another to then subsequently intervene to effectively care for patients during that wait.

With the use of technology, there are potentially enormous gains to be made on waiting list management, and one integrated care system is forging ahead on this front. The ICS in question is Cheshire and Merseyside. HSJ takes a look at the progress Cheshire and Merseyside are making.
