Baby Lifeline has announced that their fourth annual National Maternity Safety Conference will take place on Thursday 21st September 2023 at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham.
Once again it will be focussing on learning together for a safer maternity future, building on the overwhelming success of the previous three conferences.
Baby Lifeline is always keen to showcase best practice in healthcare and are pleased to welcome poster presentation abstracts again this year. They are particularly keen to hear about maternity service quality improvement measures which speak to one or more of the following themes:
Listening to families and staff Promoting safety culture Teamworking Reducing mortality & morbidity. Register

To celebrate World Patient Safety Day, PAHO will hold a virtual seminar that will bring together patients, decision makers, health teams, and academics to discuss and share their experiences and reflections on how to increase patient and family participation in improving the quality and safety of health care.

This virtual workshop will provide participants with background theory and hands-on practice in using a multi-incident analysis to analyse a group of medication incidents that share a common topic on day 1 and introduce a novel tool called the Medication Safety Culture Indicator Matrix (MedSCIM) on day 2.

This practical course is aimed at those who are planning to use, or may already be using, After Action Review (AAR) as one of their learning responses to patient safety events. It will also be useful for those in Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) oversight roles. The course includes:
Defining what After Action Review is. Understanding the principles of After Action Review. Discussing the attributes needed to be an After Action Review facilitator. Exploring how to conduct an After Action Review. Reflecting on the value of After Action Review. You’ll also be directed to specific activities designed to extend and consolidate your knowledge.
