Summary
This series of short articles by the Nuffield Trust looks at common criticisms of the NHS, and provides evidence as to why they are untrue. The articles look at the following four interrelated arguments:
- We already spend too much on our health and despite this our outcomes are poor
- The NHS is a ‘sacred cow’ and has not been reformed
- We should copy other countries and adopt a social insurance model
- There is not enough use of competition and choice
