Summary
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) is consulting on using body worn video cameras (BWV) for staff, in order to prevent and reduce violence towards ambulance crew members. One of NIAS's key priorities is addressing the safety of its staff as they go about their day-to-day activities.
This initial consultation process examines the principle of BWV being introduced at NIAS. This first consultation process closes on 22 July 2022. When this has been completed, a second consultation that fully considers the detail of factors like deployment, usage, governance, policy and procedure, will take place.
