	<span style="color:rgb(11,12,12);">This consultation ran from 31 October 2017 to 23 January 2018 and sought views on what was needed to protect the public as much as possible and at the same time support the development of the workforce. The consultation has now ended and t</span>he government will take forward legislative changes to the regulators’ fitness to practise processes and operating framework. The changes will deliver:

		better supported professionals
	</li>
	<li>
		more responsive and accountable regulation.

	The plan focuses on building an NHS fit for the future by:

		helping people to age well.

	The plan has been developed in partnership with frontline health and care staff, patients and their families. It will improve outcomes for major diseases, including cancer, heart disease, stroke, respiratory disease and dementia.
