Summary
This review by the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) looks at current NCEPOD data to identify themes relating to healthcare inequalities. It was was commissioned by Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) on behalf of the Healthcare Inequalities team at NHS England and NHS Improvement, as part of the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme (NCAPOP).
The review identifies four area of healthcare inequalities:
- Protected characteristics - age and disability
- Socioeconomic deprivation
- Inclusion health groups
- Organisation of healthcare services
