	to support effective improvement

DESCRIPTION:\n	Dr Tom Rose shares how to create effective healthcare pro
cess documentation to enable more effective improvement\, risk assessment
and safety reviews.\n\n\n\n	The documenting of healthcare processes is a k
ey part of such an effective continuous quality improvement system. But cu
rrently very few healthcare processes are documented – which greatly ham
pers effective improvement\, risk assessment and safety reviews.\n\n\n\n	A
nd too often Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are relied on\, but they
are not process specific which makes them difficult to apply.\n\n\n\n	Dr
Tom Rose will share examples of NHS Standard Process documentation\, from
the National safety standards for invasive procedures\, Getting It Right F
irst Time\, and the World Health Organisation’s High 5s project.\n\n\n\n
Tom will also share how to effectively identify the individual processes
relevant to a single work team or area\, such as a ward\, GP practice rece
ption or patient pathway.\n\n\n\n	He will show how front line staff can di
ctate the design of these processes (i.e. visual representations of Work-a
s-Done)\, supported by an experienced facilitator or designer who is respo
nsible for producing the documentation.\n\n\n\n	This is an iterative proce
ss that has been designed not to take up too much of front-line staff’s
time.\n\n\n\n	This event is organised by the Q Community’s Process Visu
alisation in the NHS and Quality Management in Healthcare Special Inter
est Groups. All are welcome to join.\n\n\n\n	Register\n\n
