DESCRIPTION:\n	During this seminar you will be joined by Dr Steven Sh
orrock\, Chartered Ergonomist and Human Factors specialist\, Dr Lauren Mor
gan\, chartered Human Factors specialist and Dr Neil Spenceley\, Clinical
Director of Paediatric Intensive Care and Anaesthesia\, Royal Children’s
Hospital\, Glasgow.\n\n\n\n	Dr Steven Shorrock - Understanding and impro
ving the reality of human work\n\n\n\n	Learning from everyday work should
be the aim of all efforts to improve organisational functioning and perfor
mance. The reality of 'work-as-done’ (how things really get done) by eve
ryone\, in front-line\, support\, and management roles\, influences all as
pects of organisational functioning. This session will explore and demysti
fy some key themes and myths:\n\n\n\n	\n The realities of work at all lev
	els.\n	\n	\n Understanding work-as-done and its proxies.\n	\n	\n Improvi
ng how we work.\n	\n\n\n\n	Dr Lauren Morgan - Building Human Factors into
the fabric of our hospitals\n\n\n\n	The design of healthcare environments
can significantly influence clinical outcomes\, efficiency\, staff wellbe
ing and retention. Healthcare providers and employers who take steps to un
derstand the reality of working practice (work-as-done) soon see the pract
ical benefits to inclusive design. In this session Lauren shares some of t
he human factors approaches she uses in including staff and patients in de
signing hospitals and clinical areas.\n\n\n\n	Register\n\n
