This masterclass will provide participants with an in-depth knowledge of what needs to be done to comply with the duty of candour; clarify ‘grey areas’ and provide guidance on dealing with difficult situations which may arise. It will provide participants with an understanding of good practice in implementing the duty and, in particular doing so in a meaningful way with empathy, to not only comply, but to work with patients and loved ones in a way that puts the emotional experience at the heart of communication.
Anyone with responsibility for implementing the duty of candour should attend, whether as a health or social care professional or at an organisational level, be it in the NHS, private healthcare or social care. Health and social care professionals; staff with responsibility for quality, safety, clinical governance, safety investigations, complaints or CQC compliance, patient experience and executive teams would benefit from attending.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has become a significant long-term focus for the NHS. Given that CVD is largely preventable it is the single biggest area where the NHS can save lives over the next decade. By embracing digital technology, we can continue to close the gap in identifying people who are living undetected with high-risk conditions, such as Atrial Fibrillation.
Chaired by Helen Williams - National Specialty Adviser for CVD Prevention at NHS England & Improvement, this webinar will highlight new approaches that show how the adoption of innovative ECG technology in both Primary Care investigations and Secondary Care detection and palpitation monitoring can improve efficacy and provide cost savings to the NHS and social care.

The countries focus on critical care services in England has increased because of COVID-19. A significant proportion of hospitalised patients with COVID-19 require help with breathing, including mechanical ventilation and other services critical care staff and units provide.
Delivering sufficient critical care capacity goes beyond physical infrastructures – such as having more beds and equipment – and requires sufficient numbers of trained and available staff.
The NHS ICU Virtual Summit: Future-Proofing Critical Care conference aims to celebrate the current efforts of ICU staff, in this time of unprecedented strain, via best practice and practical insight. We will also take a look at some key areas of potential improvement including:
Understanding intensive care staffing, occupancy and capacity. Infection control. Crisis management and emergency preparedness. Clinical Information Systems. NHS staff and services will continue to be tested to their limits over the coming months, this short but high-value session aims to bring peers together from across the UK to share best practice and outcomes.
